Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Region Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money but disappears from sight.
