Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Lake Garda Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
