Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Local Business Owners in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
