Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be attentive and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
