Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Area Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, ordinary police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
