Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Artisans
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,
if they have money, tend to disappear from view.
