Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the armed forces but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear.
