Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Hoteliers and Shop Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, on different occasions, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, if they have money, tend to disappear.
