Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to arm’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
