They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who, if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
