Scammers Impersonating Police Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those completely unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer shows up.
