Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.
How to recognize scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the authorities.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
having obtained money, disappear and no longer appear.
