Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warning and Tips

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to arm magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not contact you again.
