Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda: How to Recognize and Prevent

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, stops showing up or disappears.
