Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they ask for money, disappear and are no longer visible.
