Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

An individual is posing as a Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to arma magazines.

They are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, ceases to appear.
