Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality security forces.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
