Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region to Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
