Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just call 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
