Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears and no longer shows up.
