Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

had the money, suddenly disappears.
