Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They target hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Carabinieri.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers of the Comune.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer make themselves visible.
