Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are posing as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police Department.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, stop appearing or providing any further contact.
