Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but no longer appears.
