Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

may have money, and then disappear without further contact.
