Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazines to Local Businesses

Pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be members of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

asks for money and then disappears.
