Scammers pose as Carabinieri, police, or officials to target Garda businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the Army magazines.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance agencies, the police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.
How to Recognize the Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have taken money, will no longer show themselves.
