Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Deceive Garda Area Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of finance, police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
