Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone

who, if they had money, does not show up anymore.
