Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces’ magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer makes an appearance.
