Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the central and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
