Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

Recognizing Frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would have money, but then disappears.
