Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses and Citizens

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
