Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

seek money and then disappear.
