Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses into Fake Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the army.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

have money, but then disappear.
