Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Locales

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, exercise caution and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
