Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Business Owners
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.
They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who,
after obtaining money, no longer appear.
