Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, will no longer show themselves.
