Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Retailers in Garda

They pretend to be carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or local police officers.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those having nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear and are no longer seen.
