Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance agencies, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, no longer shows themselves.
