Scammers Pose as Officers Offering Fake Police Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to police-military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
