They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arm‘s magazines.
These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Detecting scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
