Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and are no longer seen.
