Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the mid and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear.
