Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

This is not about military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, no longer appear.
