Scammers Pose as Police to Target Garda Region Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to editions of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

if they are after money, will disappear without a trace.
