Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions supposedly from the Carabinieri.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
