Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri in Garda Region for Fake Magazine Offers

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, on different occasions, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal wardens.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have no connection with law enforcement agencies.

So be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

after collecting the money, disappears without a trace.
