Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, when asked for money, become untraceable.
