Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

say they have money but then disappear.
